National Christmas Tree Lighting 2020

Washington, DC -

For the past several years, swatch+soda has been contracted to create the main title and graphics package for the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony by Juli Pritchard Productions. This year, however, seemed a bit special in light of the events that took place during 2020 with COVID-19, riots across America and the Presidential Elections.

From the National Park Foundation...

An American holiday tradition started by President Calvin Coolidge in 1923, the National Christmas Tree Lighting is a great example of the countless ways there are to #FindYourPark/#EncuentraTuParque. On November 30, 2020, President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump lit the National Christmas Tree at President’s Park, a moment featured in this virtual 98th National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, alongside memorable holiday tunes that people of all ages will enjoy. Performers include pop artist and American Idol finalist Colton Dixon; country singer/songwriter Jerrod Niemann; country artist Jillian Cardarelli; singer/songwriter Jillian Edwards; country music singer/songwriter and actress Kellie Pickler; country artist and American Idol winner Laine Hardy; country band Leaving Austin; award-winning gospel artist Lynda Randle and her brother, Michael Tait, lead vocalist of the Newsboys; singer/songwriter Matthew West; Passion featuring Melodie Malone; the National Park Service Arrowhead Jazz Band; the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus; the U.S. Navy’s official chorus, The Sea Chanters; and “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band.
